Telangana man rescued from Russia-Ukraine war zone after fake job scam ordeal

A young man from Telangana’s Narayanpet district, who was rescued after being stranded on the Russia-Ukraine border amid the ongoing war, was safely returned to India on Friday.
The man, Mohammad Sufiyan, who had travelled to Dubai in search of employment along with others, was lured by fraudulent advertisements promising lucrative security jobs in the conflict zone.
However, once they landed in Ukraine, they were taken to the Russia-Ukraine border and subjected to six months of intensive training in the use of dangerous weapons, including drones.
After they realised they had been deceived, the group contacted the Indian Embassy for help. Subsequently, the Ministry of External Affairs, under the initiative of Prime Minister Modi and facilitated by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, coordinated their safe return to India, according to officials.

Sufiyan was received by his relatives at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. He informed that others, including Zameer, Syed Ilyas, and Nayeem Uddin, were also part of the group rescued by the officials.
